Qoheleth Haiku 1:2

2Vanity of vanities, says the Teacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.

Breath of one breathing
Usually invisible
Last but a moment

Qoheleth proclaims
Human efforts are fleeting
As a single breath

Placement of value
Is foolishness for humans
Who don’t know value

As the morning mist
Last only a brief moment
So is human breath

Lost in Time

Lost in Time
(Song Lyrics
Inspired by and to the tune of
John Prine’s “Souvenirs”)

My memories are torn and tattered
And the sun no longer shines
All my hopes and dreams have scattered
Through my day that’s lost in time
All that I once had to live for
Nothing’s left that once was mine
All my future expectations
Have just moved on down the line

My today is just a shadow
My yesterdays are faded history
Nothing’s left it seems of tomorrow’s dreams
And I guess you’d say they’re all the same to me

When I wake up in the morning
I don’t want to rise from bed
All my thoughts just run together
In confusion in my head
And when I go to bed a midnight
I just mostly toss and turn
And I lie there awake till day light
As my latest nightmares burn

My today is just a shadow
My yesterdays are faded history
Nothing’s left it seems of tomorrow’s dreams
And I guess you’d say they’re all the same to me

Qoheleth Haiku 1:1

(Ecclesiastes = Qoheleth)

Chapter 1

1The words of the Teacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

The identity
Of Qoheleth will remain
Hidden in silence

As son of David
The Qoheleth perspective
Is from Judaism

Qoheleth rises
Above ancient tradition
To challenge its place

Son of the father
Rejects the father’s values
For reality

Ambition

Ambition

I want to fly
Above the clouds
Beyond the sky
Into the face of the sun

I want to sail
The oceans
Of the Milky Way
Plumb the depths
The Mariana Trench
Of Andromeda

I want to run
Through the gardens
Of the galaxies
At the edge of the universe
And beyond

Is God

Is God

God is, or God is not. The choice we make between these two options does not alter the reality.

We, human beings, seek to answer the question, 'Is God?" In search of answers, we invent religion, philosophy, science, and art; but regardless our conclusions, all of our answers have only led to more questions.

Either something exists behind the universe, behind the multiverse, or it does not. I choose to believe that "something" exists. I have no choice as to whether I am right or wrong; but it seems to me that my choice best meets my needs.

Qoheleth

My apologies
To the ancient Qoheleth
For using his name
